Bicester in Bloom

Do you want to get involved?

Britain in Bloom groups have regularly reported benefits for the wider community:

  • Increasing visitor numbers and building a stronger local economy
  • Creating a stronger sense of pride of place and contributing to reduction in crime and anti-social behaviour
  • Delvering cleaner and greener place to shop, work and play for residents and vistors alike, and establishing a greater awareness of our environment
  • Building new partnerships between local authorities, businesses and community groups
  • Attracting greater funding opportunities to support specific activities
  • Attracting larger volunteer numbers and enabling groups to have a big impact across town

What is the format of the competition?

There are 16 regional and national Britain in Bloom competitions around the UK. When we have signed up, we'll join the competition as a town.

If we do well in your regional or national competition, we would be nominated to take part in the UK Finals, which are organised by the RHS. The Finals involve the highest achieving communities across the UK.

Community groups are active in their neighbourhood all year-round. The finalists are announced in late January each year, before being visited in the summer by RHS Bloom judges who assess their level of achievement. The winners are announced at a national ceremony in October.

Groups who have made an impact for people or the environment in their community can also be nominated for a Discretionary Award.

So, how do we take part?

Bicester is not currently registered but there are a few gardening groups in the area that may well wish to get together to establish a Bicester group .

Can we restore a sense of pride in our Town and Town Centre  with this scheme?
