Visit Lisseters of Bicester when you visit Bicester

We are loving taking a deep dive into Bicester’s history recently. Every day we are hearing of awesome stories of how Bicester has developed over the decades. Another contributor to Bicester’s heritage is a place called Lisseters of Bicester an established antiques and furniture antique dealer.

Lisseters of Bicester was established in Bicester in 1947 and has seen the involvement of three generations of families. Here is a photo of the front of the shop.

Lisseters of Bicester was established by Dennis Lisseter after he was De-mobbed in Bicester from the RAF. Dennis worked firstly for a milk company and became well known in the area. Being well know helped him make plenty of contacts, and it led him to asking around for furniture that could be for sale. This is how Dennis got involved in the buying and selling of furniture leading to the shop opening in Kings End where the shop is situated to this day.

Here are a few photos from the 1950's of the shop, including an advertisement displayed in a newspaper in 1958.

Dennis's son Michael continues to run the shop today. Here are a few photos of the shop pictured inside below.
