Get fit in 2025 at parkrun
Tomorrow it is parkrun time once again. You may have eaten plenty of Christmas turkey and indulged in some tasty food over the month of December, however now you might be thinking it is time to get fit and active once more.
While some people get their credit card and sign up to gym membership, however others join parkrun and the great news about parkrun it is totally free.
In November we went along to parkrun to take photos of the runners. It is a well-supported event that takes place at Langford Fields. Here is a photo of the runners on their way to running a 5k.
Obviously, these runners right at the front are seasoned runners. However, parkrun is not just for those who take running seriously. It is for people who just want to go along and get active plodding at a very slow pace. It is the perfect environment to be positive making encouraging friendships along the way.
Here is an example of a person who went to parkrun in 2015 and look at how their times improved over the course of the year.
This shows that parkrun is a place to go to build fitness and increase confidence that will help you in your daily life. So, if you have eaten plenty over Christmas why not join up to parkrun and complete a 5k every Saturday morning. It is the perfect way to get your weekend off to a flyer getting active and improving your physical wellbeing.

Parkrun is run by volunteers. If you don’t feel like running on a Saturday morning you can even sign up to be a volunteer yourself. Whatever you decide to do parkrun is a great place to improve your mental wellbeing so get involved.
